A Helping Hand With A Twist The day has been fantastically filled with drama. There is all I can say to it. From tiffs to quarrels to laughter to tears to grumpyness, frustrations and what not, you name it. I was walking to office as per normal and once I was ten steps away from the main entrance, I could see many people on the first floor. My pace was reduced to half the speed cause I was trying to recall whether did we organise any public talk or holding any event and if there are what is it and why can't I remember anything?! As I slowwwwly snail-like speed goes in, I see unfamiliar strange faces everywhere. What's going on here man?! I plugged back my earphones and proceeded to office which is at Level 2 and on the stairs I bumped into Kak Rohiza. Thennnn she told me that these people are queueing up for zakat ramadhan forms. Geez no wonder... The first 30 minutes I spent in office, settling down, checking my emails, talked some bullcrap stuffs, washed my glasses, have some coffee before I proceeded to first floor to give a check on the crowd status. Goood gosh it was starting to get into overdrive crazy mode I tell ya. The queue has come triple fold and has started to form zigzag and all. Thru experience, I know that IF the queue isn't attend to or no crowd control personnel, it is gonna be messy. So literally yours truly volunteer to help! Plus, it is a good enough reason to NOT do work in the early morning. Hahahhaa! So some of the men like Jun, Rosni, Ardian, Ishak and Abang Man helped out to setup lines and prevent any jumping of queue scenario. We tried our best but well there are some dramatic people here too. Claim to be in this position then he sat somewhere then join the queue again. Frustrations is starting to boil over...but we did managed to get everything back to a calm state... Interesting. That's the word that I choose if you told me to choose to describe the crowd. As most of you may know, zakat is more or less for people who needs the money BADLY. When I say badly it means really really in a tight situation. For example an old lady, with no children, difficulty walking, fragile old and sickly. Surviving on donations and rations maybe from other sources. That kind of situation is what I called a dire one. But the ones that I saw lining up are well.....able bodied, dressed well enough and errrm doesn't look the sort who need an extra hand in terms of financial. I am not saying that these people are rich but nooo, this are average people. Maybe just about under average but STILL, have a decent living. Hmmmm. Then again, I am in no position to comment too much too, cause beneath those looks, lies a tortored soul. We never know what is going on in these lives of others do we. Heh. Everything ended about close to 3pm. Of course there were dramas following this. Mainly because we have to turn away some people because we have reached our quota on the number of people that we can help and couldn't go on anymore. Obviously after lining up for hours, these people got furiously mad and demanded to see management and all. Lucky enough, again, thanks to the patience and expertise of one of the heads or one of the senior staffs, things were solved right there and then. Phew. The thing about helping others is this....when we try to help people and then suddenly we have reached our limit and can't help them anymore, it became our fault. So where is the sense of gratitude that we AT LEAST try to help them, rather than ignoring and leaving them in the lurch. Hmmm... I am just about done right here.
