Who's Working?

Racist? That is the exact word that first came shooting thru the skies of my mind whenever I came across job postings which indicated "Bilingual in English and Mandarin is a MUST". And then they would include in brackets that reason for the requirement of mandarin language is because the job scope need to liaise with Chinese counterparts. I'm thinking...this is now 2009. Can't every bloody human being, talk and understand the simple international language which is english?? For goodness sake, if it means the company abroad need to put all the billions of people who don't understand english to school to learn the basic, so be it.

Before I got cowardly tagged by some moron or less knowledgeable english personas, I wanna stressed that I am not "attacking" anyone right now. Too bad the the "must be bilingual in english and mandarin" factor is becoming a frequence rather than a rarity. It's terrible. I understand that mandarin is a language and not a race. Therefore I am NOT bombarding or bad-mouthing any race here, so puhlease, spare me. Racist maybe too harsh a word. Probably "selective" describes better? I wonder. Anyways...

It is getting rather annoying. But as of late, I couldn't care less as I spammed my resume to postings which I know I can fit in without any difficulty. Pathetic you may say, but it is survival of the fittest once you stepped out of school and into the political realm of work. Urgh! Still keeping the flames of hope alive, and I'm tired. Going thru' this rough patch has been a tough but invaluable life experience. I'm just thankful that I am still alive and able to get up and prepare for another day in the morning. Heh.

I am wondering if the South West CDC people are doing their job. I went there for a career matching assistance. The agent who I won't mention her name, YET, told me to email my resume to her. That is the FIRST thing I did when I reached home. 2 weeks has gone by, I've not receive any open receipt of the email, no reply either and no one answered my call to the number stated, even though I had left a voicemail. So can somebody tell me something already? What are these civil servants of the government doing huh?

If you are busy, fine. I believe you. Every bit of it. 'Cause I've been there and experience the whole scenario. That is why I have been giving the organisation a timeline of 2 weeks and still nothing? You have got to be kidding me right?? Are these people simply putting on a show to all the people who were there, desperate for employment, needing to feed a family, pay rent and bills, medical bills and more? I used to have the confidence and faith in the government but as of late...I kinda lost that. I don't know what to believe in anymore. Only GOD. If I were to have my way, I would be the first person going to the south west CDC (at JTC Summit) and make a whole scene of them not getting back to me. C'mon...how slow can you return a phonecall/voicemail or reply an email?? My goodness. Unbelievable.

Dad is proposing to me to go to the MP at my place. I think her name is Dr Amy Khor. Something like that. I am not even going to try and memorise her name UNLESS she assure, promise and guaran-DAMN-tee that I got a job within this month. If that happen due to her recommendations, then I'll make it a point to memorise the name and include her in my prayers for people who are worth my time. I'm sorry but that's how I am. Nonetheless, I doubt that an MP's recommendation is enough. I mean, if it work, wouldn't the thousands of unemployed people be at the front gate of the MPs with weapons and threaten him/her to sign a recommendation letter with their names on it?? I make sense do I? Halt me if I don't.

I'm tired. So, I am going to watch "Marley & Me" and just laze myself on the couch and wait for dinner to be served. Dad's buying. Huhu! I heard it's gonna be rojak and ayam penyet. Dang! I'm growling already...my tummy that is. Have a lovely lovely wednesday night on this cool Valentine weeknight darlings. You know I love you...

xoxo,
AJ
