Online Deceptions

Good noonies fellow cherry darlings. How has the holiday been doing for you? Certainly, I hope everyone is geared up to usher in the new year aye. I know I know, it sounds cliche but you have got to be a notch happier than usual. Brand new year meaning it's like starting off in a new brand untouched slate of life. Ya know. Something like that. There will be a lot of parties going around, just make sure you choose the right one to go to alright.

2009 will be dawning upon us in under 72 hours. We will leave it as that. Actually, I am typing this particular entry with a purpose. A purpose which may be sensitive to a few; so before I proceed, I would like to apologise and there is absolutely no way I am attacking anyone here. It is simply something which I have observed, analysed and tried my best to put it into the nicest phrases but with the deepest cuts. Here goes...

Why do people lie? Not just any people and not your everyday lie. To be specific, why do online people lie about themselves? There ya go. For example would be, a 15 year old female getting to know a 25 year old male. BUT instead of telling him she's 15, she instantly grew 5 more years in a matter of seconds. And to make matters worst, the guy buys it. So here is where I'm coming from. Why would a girl claims to be twenty?

Before I go any further and get bombarded with barbaric responses, I would like to mention that this of course, could happen the other way round too. I just need to verify this. Only GOD knows how many narrow-ers are out there getting pissed off at every bloggers' legitimate fictional facts on life. Pffttt.

So again, why lie when getting to know someone? Could some of us really be THAT pathetic to stoop to that level just so that we get the attention? Since when did being "honest to yourself is the most important part of self confidence" became extinct? Geez. It is sad really. I have witnessed and experience alot of cases like this happening everywhere.

There was once, I got to know a girl whose name I won't mention here, claimed she was 20. And me having this special ability to know things via my gut feelings, didn't believe a word. BUT, to find out more, yours truly decided to play along. The lies were becoming more and more bolder I must say. First was the age, then the school status, then the kind of life she leads. Every little piece of "facts" that she fed me was just NOT falling into places.

It all came crashing down when the parents dialled me up and asked about my status between me and her. I told them from everything, every single details on what the girl had mentioned to me bout her background. And then the truth came out. She was just 15 and she was STILL in school. When getting to know her, I asked her whether she was working. She said no but she's gonna start next year (month of January). And then she doesn't own a mobile phone. Which in turn, kinda like verified that she's still a kid. A few more stones were turned and everything just makes sense from there.

I actually can't believe that someone would actually lie bout their age, school and all the basic infos bout their life. Curiousity struck, I went up to her and asked. She simply mentioned, she's afraid that she might not be accepted as a friend. Geez. Are we as people really getting picky in choosing friends? Do befriending someone has requirements? Urgh.

I urged each and everyone of you, for a start, please be honest to yourself, accept yourself and love yourself. No one in this world can do this for you more than you can do it to your ownself. Trust me on this one. And let's say you're getting to know someone on the internet, especially girls who are getting to know boys, be careful and do not be naive. We have all seen in the papers thru the years, how girls were robbed of their purity in terms of their virginity by these monsters. It's a sickening thought but it happens.

Online dating has evolved thru the years. At some stage, it is a fun experience. Some of us, are just so comfortable behind the monitors. So comfy that some even became an internet bully. I guess being in a cyber world, gives us the avenue to be someone who we can't be in real life. Sad world, but that's the reality of it.

All of the above happened a year ago to me. And it happened to an online friend of mine too. And she has been whining and asking me for advice on what to do for hours already. Why must this fella lie about the unimportant stuffs. Geez. Can we all just live in a world which doesn't require lies and a straightforward life? Much easier right. Hahaha!

Checking out of here right now. I'm done hammering my keyboard. I'll be scared shitless if the buttons can speak. Cause all of them will be screaming their balls off for me to stop typing already!!! Hahahha! See you all lovelies, you know I love you...

xoxo,
AJ
